The Office of the Child Advocate (OCA) is an independent, autonomous state agency tasked with the immense responsibility of protecting the legal rights of children involved with the Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF), to promote policies and practices, which ensure that children are safe, that children have permanent and stable families, and that children in out-of-home placement have their physical, mental, medical, educational, emotional, and behavioral needs met. CRANSTON, RI – The Rhode Island Department of Human Services Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has been the focus of card skimming fraud activity over the last week. Approximately 1,800 customers using EBT cards in the Providence, Cranston, and Pawtucket area were affected. While the investigation into this continues, DHS believes these devices have been located and removed. Current dollar amounts believed to be skimmed represent approximately $500,000.

Providence, R.I. -- The Office of Revenue Analysis (ORA) today released its FY 2025 Revenue Assessment Report for January 2025. This monthly report compares the adjusted general revenues by revenue source on a fiscal year-to-date and monthly basis to expected general revenues by revenue source. Expected general revenues are estimated by ORA from the revised estimates adopted at the November Revenue Estimating Conference (REC) on November 8, 2024.
